The House

Sorry for the delay in writing; the past couple of weeks have been fairly busy: setting up my modules (classes), locating lecture halls/meeting rooms for said modules, trying to reintegrate myself into the "student" frame of mind, reading for the modules (so far Derrida, Joyce, and Freud have all been taking large portions of my time), and, of course, setting up the house. And all are going fairly well.

Here's some photos of how things are going:

The Outside

Our House, in the middle of the street. Number 31.

Round the side: all these flowers were here when we moved in. Nice!

Flowers on a sunny day.

The back garden, pre-cleaning.

The back garden, post-some cleaning.

Our shed. I had some ideas of turning it into a Twainean writing cabin, but Jo thought perhaps a desk indoors might be better. There were spiders to contend with, too.

The Inside

The entry hall. This is where we enter. It works well. It will soon feature a coat stand as well.

Early in the living room set-up. A bit empty...

The living room. We're definitely reaching a sense of normalcy here. What you can't see (behind me in this photo) is that we've acquired a table as well (two, actually). The current one is courtesy of Jenny and Dom, and pulls out to accommodate more than three people comfortably.

The kitchen. Very white, but has a good view of the shed.

The University

The Theatre department meets in the old chapel, right up the road from...

The School of English, which occupies six "houses. " These were originally the homes of rich people connected with the Univeristy, but were bought at some point, and now house various schools within the University. House 8, the central door, has a fantastic staircase which connects the school library and the main lounge.

The University chaplaincy meets in this little hovel.

The Parkinson Building, the main entry building at the Unviersity. Also connects to the Brotherton Library, which I'll have to get a photo of. Amazing.
