A Communications Code for the Letter 'N'

Hello all! Y'ell right there?

Weekend's end again. The past week has been been a bit of a blur; I'm not exactly sure where it went, but I DO know that, as of today, my student loans cheques have been deposited in my UK account, my student fees have been paid, I am registered for all my classes, and all assignments up to this point have been turned in.

Tomorrow begins Week 7 of the term. There's no time like the past, apparently.

Good weekend though: started out with a nice lie-in on Saturday, which was beautiful, so Jo and I decided to take a hike through the Yorkshire countryside. For four hours. Hilarity and cowpies ensued.

Traveling through the land of paths and arrows: Jo guards against malevolent bovines.
Cows are curious creatures.

Horses and beautiful Cookridge.

Hitsuji o Meguru Bōken, as a wise man once called it.

After finding our way back in one piece, and scraping the cow crap off our shoes, it was about time to head off for dinner. Dinner and fireworks, to be precise, at Jo's friend Lisa's house, where the chilli flowed like wine, the wine flowed like...wine, and explosive things were launched into the air with frightening velocity. Guy Fawkes night's coming up y'know.

Unfortunately had to call quits early so as not to miss a near-midnight screening of Sigur Rós' docu-travel-concert-logue 'Heima'; which is a beautiful musical romp through the band's native Iceland; all parts concert footage, scenic travel footage, and Icelandic people footage. All set to Sigur Rós. Obviously. Absolutely stunning; never before had I wanted so much to stand on a glacier with a semi-bearded man singing a song called "Sé Lest" in a falsetto. But seriously, it's much better than I make out.

Got home at 1:30. Crashed out. Woke up today late. Realised that I've got two essay proposals due this week, followed by bibliographies, thesis proposals, and essays of various assorts the following week, Thanksgiving (which we will be celebrating) on the horizon and - gasp! - The Weakerthans on the 24th. Be still my beating heart. And if you haven't heard their new album, Reunion Tour, go find it right now. I'll wait till you get back.

It's gonna be a busy month. But nothing lasts forever, even cold November rain.

Ha.
